#1 good you mention the order. otherwise judging by the demo description and by every files name i could just have plainly guessed it might have possibly been something like dm4 dm6 and aerowalk

def
the only reason I mentioned it is because by default the demo browser sorts the demos according to filename and therefore aerowalk is listed ahead of dm4 and dm6

Sick games! Thanks for uploading these Def :)

There is no question, Reppie played very well on Aerowalk. Given that you gotta give Def credit for holding up so well against Reppie especially in light that there's very few players in the US that are all that good on AW. There's even less when you take into account that of the few players that are good, they are mostly inactive.

As for ping, let's not forget that Def also has competed in a number of EU tournaments where he has competed with 100+ ping and performed very well. Reppie having 90 ping is still very playable. It is still low enough that he should be able to exercise much of the same strategy in his game as he would a lower ping with the exception of having to be more defensive in some instances.

Great games from two of the top players in the world!

oneshot: sure it is playable, reppie won me also on dm4 before this game when he had 95 and i had 40,
with like 20-25, but when we both have 40 the scores is 5-50 :) from 40 to 95 ms is a huge leap.
Im not trying to make any point that def played bad
or anything just because this was close.
Def played great, especially on dm6. So I dont see why you start to "defend" def, he doesnt have to be defended? :) but some cred should be given to rep also for putting up a fight with that ping.

all 3 games are absolute must downloads

i mean the dm4 i hate that map.. but every now and then a dm4 game comes along that makes me go "wow... i finally understand dm4!"

the dm4 opener in this series is amazing. two opposing playing styles, two opposing player mentalities, and an absolute delight to watch. super come backs, one point draw-outs, clutch shots, mind boggling escapes and +forward mayhem await you

the dm6 is like a fine wine. because it is a map i play and watch most often, i was able to experience the maximum shades of flavor of each effervesent frag

the aero? just go watch it :o

"Reppie having 90 ping is still very playable."

heh.

3 lg maps, atlantic ocean, 90 ping... suuuure its playable - go ahead and try it ;)

Glad to see the demo's uploaded by def, nice to watch but I dont think even he would seriously believe the outcome was very credible.

And I might add the obvious point that its not def's fault reppies ping sucked.

*spoiler warning* :)

yeah Highlander.. that's why I said "but seems like it was def :>" and I sure was right! omg now everybody gonna flame me because I revealed the result :[

I got a bit curious about the game and decided to watch my first dueldemo in years (my excuse being that I have tonsillitis :( and I must say that this game is of really high class.. reppie plays madly with 95 ms and puts up a really good fight here..

His control on dm4 is so amazing to see, but def fought really nicely for 13 minutes which made this game really close..

On aero I was really suprised by defs performance because as stated before aerowalk hasn't really been the map to play in the NA qw-scene.. we saw some really nice prediction shots by both players in a really tight and intense game.. have to say that reppie would've deserved the victory on this map, but I guess luck is a skill :)

dm6 is imo very dependable of ping, so on this map reppie couldn't do much.. especially against a player like def.. with his experience of the map he controls it outstanding and reppie didn't really come close here.. have to check the gglpage now to see what more games are to come :>

My point was, Reppie is very lucky to ping that low from Europe. There's many North Americans who ping higher than that east to west coast and visa versa. For North American's who have to endure coast-to-coast high pings, 90 is fine especially in light that on some servers it can be as high as 120. Also consider the 130-140 ping Insane has to compete with from Europe in this tournament.

Reppie knew what he was getting into when he signed up for this tournament. At the end of the day, you can dispute whether or not Def would have won had their pings been more even, but the fact of the matter is, Def won. Also, had the pings been reversed or equal you can also bet, Def would have trained a lot harder for this duel and probably would have had the opportunity to play some games with Reppie himself beforehand and seen what he was going up against. This potentially would of brought about an entirely different outcome in the way Def played in this tournament.

The reason I defended Def is because I knew many Euros would naturally assume Def would have lost these games had the pings been even. I seriously doubt that would have been the case. OFC, it's not impossible, but I can guarantee you the Def we saw in these games would not be the same Def we'd see in a game where he was playing an evenly pinged Reppie.

i agree with #38. def would win dm6, reppie would win aerowalk and beyond that we can not tell.
i also agree with locktar. no two games are ever the same, it would be exciting to watch these two fight on eaql pings.

go to quakeworld.us, downloads, get equake. then put demo in qw/demos. open game, hit escape, multiplayer, demos, find demo and hit enter.

alternatively, go to http://qw.qwplayers.org/index.php?path=Quakeworld/ and get def's qw package. it's more configured out of the box, although no nice textures. put demo in qw/demos and play it the same way.

oneshotflinch is a funny man.

oneshotflinch: "Reppie having 90 ping is still very playable. It is still low enough that he should be able to exercise much of the same strategy in his game as he would a lower ping with the exception of having to be more defensive in some instances."

razor: "ure it is playable, reppie won me also on dm4 before this game when he had 95 and i had 40,
with like 20-25, but when we both have 40 the scores is 5-50 :)"

.... Says it all? Give me a break. Def is an awesome player, don't get me wrong, he's AWESOME, but both on 50-less pings, I believe there is absolutely no doubt about who'd win. Maybe def wins dm6, yes, but I doubt he'd take any other map. Remember that reppie is now known as "TEH reppie", ok? ;P
